Just finished a day of practicing with the monome/launchpad combo. Fun times. I need to get a camera to show people what the hell I’m talking about.
That’s a monome, and that’s a launchpad. They do music-y things that make me happy.

Emotional Landscapes.
Whenever Jay sends me a track.. I know almost instantly what mood it puts me in. It’s either from the images that form in my mind from listening to the first few seconds, or an already existing mood that is stirred up because of it. “Playing with midi 97”, what I’m writing lyrics to right now, seems dark to me. The melody, paired with my already existing emotions, stirs up...
Avoiding life and new song
I avoided responsibility tonight and tried writing some new music for Names. It’s in rough shape but I’ve sent it to Amy to see what she can do.
Our friend Archan Nair http://www.archann.net is designing a website for us and maybe because of this I felt inclined to dust the old girls off and play some good ol’ tabla on the track.
Probably going to the studio tomorrow night...
Flex Blog-Day 4
I’ve started work on redoing the entire soundtrack for “Flex” by Chris Cunningham, one of my heros. I got permission from him to do it and seeing his signature on the waver he had to sign made me the most star struck I’ve ever been. I’ve decided to keep track of how sane I am with notes:
Mix is done! Bam! … I think. I like it in the smaller mix rooms we have, but maybe when I move it...

Work was interrupted by the fact that I chose to watch Batman. Bad call. Spent the entire night afterwards...
If you haven’t downloaded the Ricky Gervais podcasts you’re seriously missing out… anyways, meet Karl Pilkington.

So basically I get to play with lights, smoke, and a giant LED wall for a living.. I’ve been lucky to work with some truly amazing and inspirational bands.. this was one of them.

upload two of my soon to be regular posts. This band, In Medias Res, is from our city and while I usually talk to one of them when I see them live, I don’t think they realize how amazing I think they are. Incredibly modest and genuine. I honestly believe they’re one of the best bands in the world right now.

He’s my brother from another mother and an amazing artist. Archann from New Dehli just got a tumblr account so start frequenting it to witness amazing things.
One of my absolutely favorite songs, by my favorite girl Bat For Lashes. Nothing pulls at my heart strings quite like her writing and her voice.
